Standing Water in the Side Yard: Yard Drain Cleaning in Eastvale

FlowPro Drain & Sewer · Inland Empire

Eastvale homes have more yard drains than older neighborhoods do. That is not an accident — it is a design consequence. Tight lot lines, narrow side yards, and hardscaped rear patios mean rainwater cannot simply soak into open ground, so builders engineered it out through a network of catch basins and buried pipe.

It works well. Right up until it does not, and then a single blocked line puts standing water against your slab.

A typical side-yard setup: catch basins feeding a buried line, in a corridor barely wide enough to work in.

Newer does not mean maintenance-free

Because most Eastvale housing dates to the 2000s, homeowners reasonably assume the drainage is fine. The pipe usually is. The problem is what has been accumulating inside it for twenty years.

Three factors compound here:

Why we jet rather than snake

Running a cable through a silted area drain opens a channel through the middle of the blockage. Water moves again, which feels like a fix. But the compacted sediment is still lining the pipe, and it will close back in — often before the end of the same rainy season.

High-pressure jetting scours the pipe wall to wall and flushes the material out the discharge point instead of pushing it further down the line. On a root intrusion, a cutting head removes the mass rather than boring through it. The difference is measured in years, not weeks.

Signs your yard drains are already partly blocked

  • Water sits in a catch basin for more than a minute or two after you fill it with a hose
  • Mud or silt visibly builds up around a grate
  • Patio or side yard stays damp long after everything else has dried out
  • You have never seen water discharge from your curb outlet during a rain

Any one of those is worth a call to 714-992-6363 before the first storm rather than during it.

What happens after the work

When we finish, we walk the property with you and go through what we found — which line was blocked, what was in it, and the condition of the pipe itself. If we camera the line, you watch the screen with us instead of taking our word for it.

A written report with the findings gets emailed to you afterward. It is useful documentation if you are selling the house, working with a landscaper, or coordinating anything with an HOA.

Clear them before the rain, not during it

Late summer is the right window. Once the first real storm hits the Inland Empire, everyone with a flooded side yard is calling the same week.
